# Supported agents

> AI agents compatible with the BananaSplit skill.

The BananaSplit skill works with any agent that has shell access and can run CLI commands.

## Officially supported

These agents have pre-configured skill installation paths:

| Agent | Install command | Config directory |

| Claude Code | `banana skill install --agent claude` | `~/.claude/` or `$CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR` |
| Codex | `banana skill install --agent codex` | `~/.codex/` or `$CODEX_HOME` |
| Cursor | `banana skill install --agent cursor` | `~/.cursor/` |
| Gemini CLI | `banana skill install --agent gemini` | `~/.config/gemini/` |
| opencode | `banana skill install --agent opencode` | `~/.config/opencode/` |

Running `banana skill install` without `--agent` installs for all detected agents.

## Other shell-enabled agents

Any agent with shell access can use BananaSplit. Install the skill to a custom directory:

```bash theme={null}
banana skill install --dir /path/to/agent/skills
```

Or view and manually add the skill:

```bash theme={null}
banana skill install --print
```

## What agents need

For the skill to work, the agent needs:

1. **Shell access** — ability to run CLI commands
2. **Skill loading** — reads skill files from its config directory
3. **JSON parsing** — understands `--json` output (recommended)

## Agent capabilities

With the skill installed, agents can:

| Check balances | `banana balance --json` | Who owes whom, amounts |
| Add expenses | `banana expenses add ...` | Splits, currencies, dates |
| Record payments | `banana payments add ...` | Settlements between people |
| List expenses | `banana expenses list --json` | Pagination, filtering |
| Manage groups | `banana groups ...` | Members, defaults, activity |
| Search | `banana expenses list --search ...` | Finding specific expenses |

## Testing the integration

After installing and signing in:

```bash theme={null}
banana doctor
```

Should show:

* `ok` for authentication
* `ok` for skill version match

Then start a new agent session and try: **"What do I owe on BananaSplit?"**
