# Skill installation

> Install the BananaSplit skill for your AI agent.

## Option 1: Skills CLI

If you have the [Skills CLI](https://github.com/vercel-labs/skills):

```bash theme={null}
npx skills add teotti/banana-cli --skill banana --global
```

Start a new agent session. The skill guides your agent through installing the CLI if needed.

## Option 2: From the CLI

After installing the BananaSplit CLI:

```bash theme={null}
banana skill install
```

This automatically installs for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and opencode when their directories are present.

## Choose specific agents

```bash theme={null}
banana skill install --agent codex
banana skill install --agent claude --agent cursor
banana skill install --all
banana skill install --list   # Show supported agents
```

`--agent` works even before an agent's directory exists.

## Custom directory

```bash theme={null}
banana skill install --dir ~/.config/agent/skills
```

## Environment variables

These are honored:

* `CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR`
* `CODEX_HOME`
* `XDG_CONFIG_HOME`

## Updating the skill

Running install again leaves an identical skill alone. If the skill differs (you edited it), it's preserved. Use `--force` to replace with the bundled version:

```bash theme={null}
banana skill install --force
```

## View the skill

Print without installing:

```bash theme={null}
banana skill install --print
```

## Uninstall

```bash theme={null}
banana skill uninstall                 # All agents
banana skill uninstall --agent codex   # Specific agent
banana skill uninstall --force         # Replace edited skills
```

## Check status

```bash theme={null}
banana doctor
```

Reports whether installed skills match the CLI version.

## Sign in (required)

After installing the skill, sign in to your BananaSplit account:

```bash theme={null}
banana login
```

The agent uses your stored credentials. You sign in once; the agent handles the rest.
